Chipotle Cultivate Festival
Celebrate the importance of sustainability and responsibly raised food at this free food and music festival with demos by local celebrity chefs like Curtis Duffy and Graham Elliot. September 7 from 11am-7pm at Lincoln Park.
Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen
This new fresh-casual concept in the Gold Coast will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Servers will locate diners via GPS to serve them Publican Quality Meats burgers, Slagel Farms steak, fresh-squeezed juices and seasonal wok bowls. Opens September at 100 East Walton.
James Beard Foundation’s Taste America
Enjoy a sumptuous five-course benefit dinner cooked by James Beard nominees including Gale Gand, Tony Mantuano and Chris Pandel, followed by free culinary demos and cookbook signings the next day with Richard Blais and Paul Kahan. September 20-21 at Union Station and Sur La Table at 900 North Michigan.
Chicago Gourmet and Hamburger Hop
Kick off a weekend of feasting and imbibing with Hamburger Hop, followed by two days of wine, food and cooking demos from some of the city’s top chefs. This year, ten internationally renowned chefs are also joining the party. Hint: There’s more food and shorter lines at Hamburger Hop. September 27-29 at Millennium Park.
Chicago Chop Shop
Joshua Marrelli, former chef de cuisine at Urban Union, will cook American comfort food at Chop Shop, which houses a butcher shop, deli, bar and event space in addition to a restaurant. Opens September at 2033 West North.
The Harding Tavern
Cafe Con Leche owner Esam Hani has kept details about his “timeless neighborhood tavern” hush hush, but we’ll find out if the food and drinks live up to Logan Square’s high standards soon enough. Opens late September at 2732 North Milwaukee.
