Can chocolate create hope? The people at ethel’s Chocolate Lounge think so. ethel’s Chocolate Lounge has introduced the “Create Chocolate, Create Hope” limited-edition collection, designed by local aspiring artists. In a unique contest, the artists created artwork and submitted short essays describing how chocolate represents hope. The contestants competed for a $1,000 prize and for the opportunity to have their designs featured in ethel’s chocolates’ holiday collection. Four local artists were chosen. On top of a $10,000 donation, ethel’s is also offering ten percent of the special promotion’s proceeds to Marwen, a nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to Chicago’s under-served youth. “On top of the chocolate being phenomenally delicious, every time you give the gift of chocolate, it will be giving back to the Chicago community,” says Steve Dekany, of Mars Retail Group, which own ethel’s.
